The Allotment Project
Growing Together
The allotment is a peaceful, welcoming space where people can take part in:
- Gardening and planting
- Learning new skills like weeding, watering and seasonal growing
- Small group activities with staff support
- Connection, conversation and shared purpose
- Mindful outdoor work that supports wellbeing and routine
Sessions are run by our staff team and designed to be gentle, inclusive and pressure‑free. People are invited to join in at whatever pace feels comfortable for them.
The Allotment Project
Why it Matters
Many people who experience homelessness face significant stress, social isolation and barriers to wellbeing. The allotment provides:
- A calm place to decompress and feel safe
- A way to reconnect with others through shared activity
- Pride, purpose and achievement through nurturing plants and seeing progress
- Gentle physical activity and improved mental wellbeing
- A routine that helps build confidence and stability
- A non‑judgemental environment with trusted staff support
The allotment is about much more than gardening — it’s about growing confidence, community and hope.

Get Involved
Volunteer with Us
Our allotment relies on kind, supportive volunteers who can help create a calm, welcoming space for the people we support.
You don’t need to be a gardening expert — just someone who’s friendly, patient, and happy to get stuck in outdoors.
As a volunteer, you might:
- Help with planting, watering, weeding and general upkeep
- Support small, staff‑led gardening sessions
- Encourage people to join in at their own pace
- Help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere
- Assist with safe use of tools and equipment
If you enjoy being outdoors and want to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you!
Donate Supplies
If you prefer to give practical support, we’re always grateful for donations of allotment supplies. Items we often need include:
- Seeds, seedlings and seasonal plants
- Compost, soil or mulch
- Hand tools (trowels, forks, small spades)
- Gloves and gardening aprons
- Watering cans or hose equipment
- Pots, trays, planters and labels
If you or your organisation would like to donate materials, please get in touch — you might already have something in your shed or workplace that could make a huge difference.
Help Fund the Project
If you’re not able to volunteer but would still like to help, a financial donation can go a long way.
Your support helps us purchase essential items such as:
- Seeds, soil and gardening tools
- Raised beds and planters
- Gloves, watering cans and other equipment
- Refreshments for session days
- Materials for wellbeing or group activities
Every donation — big or small — helps us maintain the space, provide meaningful sessions, and ensure the allotment stays safe and accessible for everyone who uses it.
