The Accommodation Project
What is the Accommodation Project?
Unlike emergency shelters, our Accommodation Project focuses on sustainable, longer-term housing solutions.
Residents live in safe, shared homes where they receive tailored, trauma-informed support designed to help them develop the skills, confidence and stability needed to move on into independent living.

How we support people
Every person’s journey is different, so support is tailored to individual needs.
We work alongside residents to develop independent living skills, manage finances and tenancies, and access healthcare, training and employment opportunities. We also support individuals to address underlying challenges such as debt, mental health or substance use, helping them build a stable foundation for the future.
Moving towards independence
The aim of the Accommodation Project is not just to provide housing, but to support people to move on successfully into their own long-term accommodation.
Through consistent support and a stable environment, individuals are able to build confidence, establish routines, and take meaningful steps towards independence and a more secure future.

For Professionals: Referrals
Access to the Accommodation Project is through a referral process, ensuring that the right support is in place from the outset.
We work closely with professional partners across Worcestershire to identify individuals who would benefit from supported accommodation and are ready to take the next step towards independence.
Individuals referred to the service are typically experiencing homelessness or sofa surfing, have a verified local connection to Worcestershire, and require longer-term supported accommodation.
Please note that submitting a referral does not guarantee a placement, as all applications are assessed based on suitability and availability.

Real stories: Building stability
When Humphrey came to Maggs, he had been sofa surfing following a relationship breakdown and was struggling with his mental health. After years of managing on his own, he found himself in a position where he needed support to move forward.
At first, Humphrey found it difficult to engage. But with time, a safe place to stay, and consistent support from the team, he began to rebuild stability. He worked on managing his finances, engaged with mental health services, and started addressing the challenges that had built up over time.
As his confidence and stability grew, so did his independence.
In 2023, Humphrey moved into his own flat — a significant step forward — while continuing to stay connected with support.
What our support shows
With the right environment and consistent support, people don’t just access accommodation — they are supported to sustain it and move forward with confidence.
