How It Works

We offer both short-term and longer-term placements depending on the requirements of your course. Due to the sensitive nature of our work and the needs of our service users, we limit the number of placements at any one time and will work closely with you and your course leader to shape a suitable placement plan.

Student Placements

What We Look For

  • Willingness to learn, reflect, and engage with people from all walks of life

All placement students will be required to undertake a DBS check, safeguarding induction, and relevant training before beginning their placement. Students must be 18 years and older.

Apply or Enquire

If you’re interested in a student placement at Maggs, please email us at volunteers@maggsdaycentre.co.uk with:

  • Your name, course, and institution
  • Desired placement dates
  • Any specific areas of interest or requirements from your course

We’ll review your application and get in touch to discuss next steps.

Completing a university placement at Maggs allowed me to develop my understanding of homelessness and the challenges of working within the sector. In particular, the experience gained with soft communication skills by engaging with such a wide range of individuals has been invaluable to my later employment at Maggs.
