ESSENTIAL VOLUNTEERING

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH US

Volunteering with Maggs is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness — right here in your local community.

Whether you’re offering practical, hands-on support or simply showing up with kindness and consistency, your time helps create spaces where people feel safe, respected and supported.

Along the way, you’ll develop new skills, gain valuable experience, and become part of a welcoming team who share a genuine commitment to compassion and dignity.

VOLUNTEER WITH MAGGS

THERE'S NO PRESSURE

We understand that volunteering can feel like a big step — especially if you’re not sure what to expect.

There’s no pressure to have specific skills or experience, and no expectation to commit to more than you’re comfortable with. We’ll talk with you about what works for you, support you as you settle in, and help you find a role that feels manageable and rewarding.

Volunteering at Maggs is about showing up as you are — and being part of something positive, at your own pace.

ESSENTIAL VOLUNTEERING

OUR CORE ROLES

Essential volunteering at Maggs is hands-on, people-focused, and rooted in everyday acts of care.

You might be helping to prepare and serve meals, sorting clothing donations, supporting activities in our centres, or assisting with practical tasks that keep our services running smoothly. No two days are exactly the same — but the focus is always on creating a calm, respectful environment where people feel welcome.

You’ll never be expected to handle situations you’re not trained or comfortable with, and there’s always a member of staff on hand to guide and support you.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If essential volunteering sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.

The next step is simply to complete our Maggs Volunteer Application Form. Once we’ve received it, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch to arrange an informal chat, answer any questions, and talk through what volunteering might look like for you.

There’s no obligation — just a conversation to explore whether Maggs is the right place for you to volunteer.

"Volunteering every week at Maggs has shown me that each individual can make a difference within their local community. When I can answer a question, solve a problem or make a service user feel heard, I know that I have been helpful. The hard work of the case workers and outreach teams is apparent and helps create a welcoming and growth orientated environment for everyone."
