Looking to inject some entertainment into your workplace?

During the winter months things can seem a bit dreary, so if you’re looking to bring some fun into your day-to-day life, why not try fundraising for a charity?

Fundraising can be pure enjoyment and a great way to bring everyone together, plus it can raise some well-needed funds for your chosen charity.

Whether you’re all together or have some employees that work remotely, we have a number of ways to get everyone together that will cause minimal disruption.

Fancy Dress

When it comes to fancy dress, the limits are endless. You can choose from a wide range of themes, and we say the bolder, the better! Why not try something interesting, such as ‘guess the inventor’ or a decade theme to widen the variety?

However, there’s an important point to consider, always ensure fancy dress remains respectful. No one wants HR to have to join the party, so we advise to keep it clean.

Host a sponsored swim, walk or run

Another great way to not only raise money, but bring together your work team is organise a sponsored sport event. The team work is there throughout the whole process; from the initial organising, advertising to outside people to raise the funds but also executing the event together and cheering each other on!

Alternatively, you can do this on your own, and set up a Just Giving fundraising page to share with your work colleagues, family and friends and even invite them to encourage a fun day out too.

Run a talent show or karaoke competition

Keen to show off your hidden talents? Why not organise a talent show!

Not only do they provide entertainment for attendees, but they give people the chance to show off their talents and skills and have a good time while supporting a good cause. It can also be a great team bonding opportunity for departments who don’t get to work closely in the organisation.

A family fun day

Why not go big and organise a family fun day for your colleagues and their loved ones? The day can host activities like face painting, arts and crafts, bouncy castles, rides and balloon animals for the children.

You could ask attendees to collect pledges or pay an entry fee, or even incorporate the talent show for those who are feeling brave!

These is ideal for colleagues who also work remotely as they can mix with the office based staff and encourage great working relationships.

Clothing Swap or Drive

Clothes recycling is becoming more popular, given the huge advantages for helping the environment. So why not hang everyone’s upcycled clothes on hangers and rails, and your colleagues can shop and swap for one new piece of apparel or buy them for cash, with the proceeds going towards your chosen charity.

If you have Maggs in mind for this, you could all bring in items we use for our clothing project, using our most-needed items list to donate directly for our service users. This is a great way for de-cluttering but also ensuring your items will be going directly to people in need.
