A little while ago, we shared that Lucy would be taking on the Great Swim in memory of her late father, Mark, and to raise funds for Maggs. We’re so proud to share that she not only completed the challenge, but raised an amazing £4,122 to support people experiencing homelessness across Worcestershire.
Honouring a Lasting Legacy
Lucy chose to take on the challenge in memory of her father, Mark, someone who had spent his life standing up for others. A passionate advocate for social justice, Mark worked as both a defence solicitor and a social worker, supporting people facing some of life’s most complex and difficult challenges.
Swimming has always been a meaningful connection for Lucy and her father, and together they swam the Great Swim half mile when she was just 12 years old.
We were incredibly moved to learn that Mark was also a supporter of Maggs. Lucy’s decision to fundraise for us, as a tribute to her father, made this achievement even more meaningful.
Making Waves for Change
Thanks to her dedication and the generosity of Lucy and her supporters, £4,000 will go directly towards supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Worcestershire.
Every pound raised helps us continue providing vital services, from practical support and essential items to advice, connection and a safe, welcoming space for those who need it most.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We want to say a huge congratulations and thank you to Lucy. Not only for completing such an incredible physical challenge, but for doing so in a way that honours her father’s legacy of compassion and social justice.
Her story is a powerful reminder of how personal experiences can inspire meaningful action, and how one person’s determination can make a real difference to others.
