Today, 21st December, marks a truly special moment in Maggs’ history — our 40th anniversary.

Since opening our doors in 1985, Maggs Day Centre has been a place of refuge for people experiencing homelessness and hardship in Worcester and beyond. Over four decades, our services have grown and evolved, but our purpose has remained the same: to offer warmth, dignity, and practical support to those who need it most.

A place to belong

For many people, Maggs is more than a service — it’s a lifeline. It’s a place to sit down with a hot meal, to feel safe indoors, to access support with housing, health, and wellbeing, and to be treated with respect and understanding.

Across 40 years, thousands of individuals have come through our doors, each with their own story. We are continually inspired by the resilience, strength, and courage of the people we support, and it is a privilege to walk alongside them.

Powered by people

This anniversary is also a celebration of the incredible people who make Maggs what it is. Our staff, volunteers, trustees, supporters, partners, and funders — past and present — have all played a part in sustaining our work across four decades.

From early beginnings to the services we provide today, Maggs has always been shaped by community. Every donation, shared message, volunteered hour, and act of kindness has helped ensure that no one has to face homelessness alone.

Looking ahead

While today is a moment to reflect, it’s also a moment to look forward. The challenges facing people experiencing homelessness continue to change, and the need for compassionate, person-centred support remains as urgent as ever.

As we mark 40 years, we do so with gratitude for the journey so far — and with hope and determination for the future.

Thank you for being part of the Maggs story.
Together, we will continue to offer care, dignity, and hope for many years to come.
