On Sunday morning, Worcester’s streets were filled with energy, cheers, and determination as runners of all ages took on the Worcester City Run. Among them were two of our very own — Melissa and Margarita — who showed the same determination they bring to Maggs every day by completing the Worcester City Run 10K.
Taking on a challenge like this isn’t easy, but both of them showed the same dedication, resilience, and passion that they bring to their daily jobs, both frontline and behind the scenes. It was a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness for Maggs in the heart of the city and to show that the spirit of our work reaches far beyond our day centres.
Melissa, our Fundraising Communications & Relationships Manager shared her thoughts after crossing the finish line:
“If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be running a 10K, I would have laughed! I still can’t believe I did it — although Margarita sprinted past me at 1K and made it look easy! She’s absolutely amazing. I’m just proud that I kept going and managed to cross the finish line. For me, it wasn’t about speed but about showing up, pushing myself, and using the moment to raise awareness for the work we do at Maggs.
My job means I talk to so many people every day who run events or create fundraisers for Maggs — it was about time I did it myself too. A huge thank you to everyone who cheered us along the way — the support from the crowd really kept me going.”
We’re incredibly proud of their achievement and so grateful to have colleagues who embody Maggs’ values both inside and outside of work. A huge congratulations to them both — and thank you to everyone who cheered them on along the route.
