Recently, our teams based at our Tything Office pitched the idea of transforming their meeting room to a spacious cosy area, dedicated to hosting our service users during one-to-one meetings, whether this was with their Maggs support worker or partnering agencies that are working with them.
The senior management team got to work and by chance was contacted by two corporate firms, Sanctuary Housing and the Liaison Group, whose offers could make this project come to life.
Firstly, we were approached by Liaison Group, who were in the process of closing their Worcester office and offered Maggs the opportunity to select any of their furniture and facilities to benefit our service users within our locations.
From sofas and desks to TVs and fridges, the team at Liasion Group were extremely generous and offered whatever we wanted and needed, for all locations.
Amy Elmore, Head of Customer Operations at Liaison Workforce, says: “We are so pleased to be able to support Maggs with furniture and technology, and also avoid it going to waste. We hope it helps the service and keeps the centre bright!”
Secondly, the team decided that the space desperately needed a fresh lick of paint and just at the right time, the Corporate Finance team at Sanctuary Housing approached Maggs as their charity of choice to complete their volunteering time with.

After speaking to our Fundraising, Communications and Relationships Manager, Melissa, it was agreed that they were going to bring in a big team and not only redecorate the dedicated meeting room for our service users but also the entire office.
Payal Patel, Head of Taxation at Sanctuary Housing, adds: “Working closely with Maggs through the nature of our work meant that they are well known to employees, so it felt right to be able to give back valuable volunteering time to help such a fantastic cause.”
“Not only was it a lovely bonding experience for us, but it was great to decorate and help towards the workspace the invaluable Maggs team members use. Steph in particular was fantastic, she looked after us and took time to talk through everything Maggs do. Thank you all for the fantastic opportunity.”
We now also boast a calm meeting space in our Clothing Project for service users to relax or meet with their support workers in a different environment.
Matthew Williams, Senior Manager – Corporate Finance at Sanctuary, says: “It was really nice to give something back to a place that I walk past every day, and great that we were able to make a little difference for the staff that will hopefully make their jobs easier and allow them to better support their clients.”

Steph, our Volunteer Coordinator, confirms: “We were delighted to be able to make this dream project come to reality. The team are thrilled with the new dedicated meeting space, and not only that, but we’ve been able to transform another quiet area in our Clothing Project too and refurnish our entire offices to make each worker’s area more workable and fit for purpose.”
“Both the Outreach team and Accommodation team, who are based at the Annexe, worked incredibly hard despite their busy workloads, moving old and new furniture and it has given us all something to be extremely proud of. I cannot thank Amy at the Liaison Group, the team at Sanctuary Housing, and the Maggs team for pulling this altogether.”
