Neighbourhood Officer, Jay Gormley, is set to shave off all her hair to raise money for the local homeless charity Maggs Day Centre.
After working as a neighbourhood officer for 7 years, Jay has worked with Maggs to help support the community to source housing and has seen first-hand how the charity supports the homeless and vulnerable and gives them hope for the future.
Whilst working in housing in Worcester, myself and some of the most vulnerable people in the area have been supported by the wonderful people who work at Maggs”, explains Jay. “I recognise the massive breath of support they give people, whether it be access to a GP, clothing, help with managing their tenancy – they are vital. I want to spread the word and highlight the service provided, and long may it continue!
Jay aims to raise £1000 and is set to complete the shave at 2023’s Worcester Show and encourages visitors to come to watch or even cut a piece off if they wish.
Alternatively, you can donate through Jay’s Go Fund Me Page: https://gofund.me/9171c845.
Melissa Blewitt, Marketing & Relations Officer at Maggs, says, “We cannot thank Jay enough for choosing Maggs to receive her daring donation. We’re always so humbled by the support we receive from the community, and Jay’s donation will be able to help us continue to support the homeless and vulnerable throughout Worcestershire and also help to raise money for our first-ever festival, Maggstock, next year!”
