The Maggs Allotment Project is really beginning to take shape, thanks to the incredible generosity and hands‑on support of some incredible local businesses!

This week, a team from Worcester-based Unilite volunteered their time on site, helping to prepare the ground and construct raised beds. In just one day, they made remarkable progress, bringing structure and definition to the site and laying strong foundations for future planting. The raised beds they built will soon be filled with fruit, vegetables and flowers, supporting wellbeing, routine and skill-building for the people who take part in sessions at the allotment. Some of the produce will also support our day centre provision and wider community partnerships, helping the benefits extend well beyond the plot itself.

We’ve also received generous support from Wickes‘ Worcester branch, who donated the timber and materials needed to construct the beds. Their contribution has provided the practical building blocks needed to move the project into its next phase, which will include more planting areas, pathways and growing spaces where people can learn gardening skills and enjoy time outdoors.

Nichola Osborne, Allotment Lead at Maggs, shared how uplifting the progress has already been:

Seeing the space begin to take shape has been incredibly inspiring. The raised beds are already transforming the site, and it’s exciting to think about the difference this project will make — giving people a calm, welcoming place to spend time outdoors, learn new skills and experience a sense of achievement.

About the Allotment

This special project has been created to provide a calm, purposeful outdoor environment where people experiencing homelessness or severe disadvantage can grow food, build confidence and develop routine in a supportive, non‑judgemental setting. More than a growing space, it will become a place to learn new skills, reconnect with community and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors.

As the allotment continues to grow, we would love to welcome more people into its development. Local residents, businesses and community groups can get involved by volunteering on site or supporting future sessions. Donations of tools, plants, compost, timber, or financial contributions will also help ensure the allotment can flourish in the months ahead.
