Each year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters throughout the county during Harvest. From schools and colleges to businesses and organisations, we’re fortunate to receive fantastic items for our service users to enjoy.
Firstly, what is the harvest?
Every Autumn, Harvest Festival is a time of celebration when crops have been gathered from the field and people can reflect and show their gratitude for the food they have.
This tradition dates back to a long time ago in British history, when people relied on crops for food and farmers would give thanks for a good harvest.
Presently, communities typically come together to celebrate by collecting and donating produce to collect food for those in need. Schools may have a special assembly or collect food parcels to give out.
How is Maggs involved in the harvest?
Luckily for us, we are one of the lucky organisations that benefit from food donations from our local community. Each year, we get to provide some fantastic additions to our food offerings because of it.
However, this year we are kindly requesting specific items that we have great demand for and we can utilise for our services, including our Clothing Project and day centres for breakfast provisions.
Last year, we served over 3101 breakfasts to rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodation and we were only able to do so with the help of our supporters and volunteers.
If you’d like to contribute to this year’s harvest appeal, please see the list below:

Can all donations please be brought to our Clothing Project. The address is 59/60 The Tything, Worcester WR1 1JT.
Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am – 12pm but we do have an out of hours donations bin around the back of the building on Britannia Road.
