We’re delighted to introduce our new Maggs Allotment Project: an exciting new space designed to support wellbeing, connection and purpose for people using our services.

The allotment will be developed from scratch over the coming months and become a place where people can work together to grow food and flowers, learn new skills, and enjoy time outdoors in a supportive and welcoming environment.

What we’re growing — now and in the future

In the short term, we plan to grow fresh produce, which will be used for meals at our Day Centres and vegetable boxes for tenants and service users.

Looking further ahead, we have exciting plans to develop the allotment into a sensory garden, with quiet areas and spaces where support workers can sit and talk with clients.

Our hope is that the allotment becomes a place of calm, structure and belonging. Somewhere people can reconnect with themselves and others while working towards their personal goals.

How you can help us get started

To bring this project to life, we’re looking for support from our community in a few ways:

DONATIONS WE NEED

CORPORATE SUPPORT

We’re also looking for corporate teams to support the physical setup of the allotment during late February and early March. This includes digging over the plot, creating beds, and rebuilding a rotten porch on the shed. One or two teams per date would make a huge difference.

If you’re able to offer free access to a small digger or rotovator, this would be an incredible help during the early stages.

VOLUNTEERING

Initially, we’re looking for 6-8 volunteers to support the setup of the allotment during February and March, and then to help run two sessions per week from April onwards.

Groups will be small and supportive, made up of:

  • 3-4 service users
  • 1 member of staff
  • 3-4 volunteers

Get involved

This project is about much more than growing food. It’s about growing connection and community, and we’re so excited to see it take shape with your support!

If you’d like to donate, volunteer, or find out more, please get in touch by emailing info@maggsdaycentre.co.uk, or calling 01905 25027(ext 5).

Together, we can help something truly meaningful grow.
