We’re really excited to share something new.

On Thursday 23rd April, we’re launching The Connection Project — a weekly women’s group in Kidderminster, created to offer a safe, welcoming space for women navigating substance use.

Delivered in partnership with HELP, this new project is all about connection, support and meeting people where they are — without judgement.

Why this matters

We know that women navigating substance use often face additional barriers when it comes to accessing support. Whether that’s stigma, safety concerns, or simply not feeling comfortable in existing services, too many women are left without the space they need.

The Connection Project has been designed to change that.

As Deb, our Harm Reduction Worker, puts it: “The Connection Project is about creating a space where women feel safe, supported and able to be themselves. We know that women navigating substance use often face additional barriers, and this is about breaking those down — offering practical help, connection and somewhere to come as you are.”

What to expect

The group will run every Thursday from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Tulip Tree Centre, Castle Road, Kidderminster (DY11 6TH) — and there’s no referral needed.

Each week will look a little different, with a mix of activities designed to help people relax, connect and build confidence. This includes:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Nail art sessions
  • Cooking
  • Film afternoons
  • Holistic therapies

But it’s not just about activities.

The Connection Project will also offer:

  • Harm reduction advice and support
  • Access to safer injecting equipment and Naloxone
  • Health and wellbeing check-ins
  • Someone to talk to
  • Support and signposting around housing and other services

And of course — there’ll be tea, coffee and something to eat too.

A partnership that makes sense

This project brings together the strengths of both Maggs Day Centre and HELP, combining local knowledge and experience to create something that truly works for the women who need it.

As our partners at HELP shared: “We’re really pleased to be working alongside Maggs to deliver this project. It’s a fantastic opportunity to create a supportive environment where women can connect, access help and feel part of something positive.”

Part of something bigger

At Maggs, we support people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage across Worcestershire. The Connection Project is part of our wider commitment to making sure support is accessible, inclusive and built around real lives — especially for those who are often excluded from traditional services.

Come along or share the word

If you — or someone you know — could benefit from The Connection Project, we’d love to see you there.

No referral. No pressure. Just a space to come as you are.
