We recently welcomed a team from HSBC Worcester to our community allotment for a corporate volunteering day — and they made an incredible amount of progress in just one day.

The team got stuck into a wide range of practical jobs, including almost completely painting the shed, building two new raised beds, planting our baby plants, completing the pollinator strip, working on the bug hotel and helping with general tidying and maintenance around the site.

Our Allotment Lead, Nicky, described the team as “amazing – very friendly and engaged, up for anything, worked incredibly hard and were an absolute pleasure.”

Our allotment is an important wellbeing and recovery space for the people we support. It gives people the opportunity to spend time outdoors, take part in meaningful activity, build confidence and skills, and connect with others in a calm and welcoming environment.

Corporate volunteering days like this make a real difference to us. As well as helping us complete practical work that would otherwise take much longer, they give local businesses the chance to see first-hand the impact their support can have.

There is still plenty more planned for the allotment, including finishing touches around the shed and water catchment area and, once conditions allow, work beginning on the pond space.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone from HSBC who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to support us.

Thank you for helping us continue to develop a space that can be enjoyed by the people we support for years to come.
