As the school year draws to a close and classrooms gear up for sports days, summer fairs, and leavers’ assemblies, we’d love to invite your school to take part in something truly meaningful.

2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Maggs, and we’re using this milestone year to reflect, reconnect, and re-energise our community support. With over four decades of work supporting people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability across Worcestershire, we know how powerful it can be when schools and young people get involved.

Whether you’re a student council, a teacher, or a parent governor – here are some ways your school can help make a real impact in the final term:

🧼 1. Host a Donation Drive

Our Clothing Project is in urgent need of practical summer items such as:

  • Suncream & deodorant
  • New socks and underwear
  • Light t-shirts, joggers, and baseball caps
  • Reusable water bottles
Why not turn this into a house competition or a ‘non-uniform in exchange for a donation’ day?

💛 2. Hold a Fundraising Event

Summer term is the perfect time for:

  • Bake sales or ice cream stalls
  • Sponsored walks or fun runs
  • Year group challenges
  • Talent shows or school fairs with a charity twist

Every pound raised helps us continue providing hot meals, clean clothes, outreach support and access to essential services.

🎓 3. Use It as a Learning Opportunity

Maggs can provide assemblies, talks, or classroom resources to help students understand:

  • What homelessness looks like in Worcestershire
  • How we support people on their journey of change
  • What empathy and action can look like in practice

Empowering students with social awareness builds compassion and confidence.

🎁 4. Create Summer Essentials Bundles

Our team are often asked for ready-to-go care bundles in the summer. A classroom or year group could work together to create packs of essentials with handwritten notes of kindness inside – a wonderful end-of-year kindness project!

👣 5. Join Our 40th Walk or Events

As part of our 40th year, we’re planning a symbolic walk from our Worcester to Malvern Day Centres, and a whole calendar of community-led events. Your school could take part, support, or simply help us share the message.

💬 Let’s Chat!

If your school would like to get involved in any way — big or small — we’d love to hear from you. You can email us at fundraising@maggsdaycentre.co.uk or call us to discuss what might work best.

Let’s end the school year with kindness, connection and community spirit — together.
