Earlier this week, the Maggs marketing team were invited to visit the SEN students at Heart of Worcester College, under the guise of holding a talk about our ongoing partnership – but instead, they surprised us by presenting Maggs with an Inclusive Employer Award!
Here’s what they had to say:
“Each year we have an award to give out to a nominated employer who we feel is the most collaborative — and this year, we have chosen Maggs. Here is a trophy and a certificate to thank you for this opportunity.
We have found the collaboration so valuable to so many students in SEN and we have all loved the experience, whether it be cooking the food or serving the food. The college and Maggs have stood by each other for nearly 40 years, so it was about time we did something together.”
Each student had also written heartfelt thank you letters and took the time to read them out to us. It was deeply moving, and showed how much this experience has meant to them.
“Walking into HOW College that day, I truly thought we were there to give a talk — I had no idea what was about to happen. When the students presented us with a collaboration award, I was completely taken aback. Their words, the speeches, the thought behind it all… it was incredibly emotional.
I’ve had the privilege of leading this project from the very beginning, and I’ve seen first-hand just how much it’s meant to the students — and to our team. Every Thursday, they’ve brought not just meals, but energy, joy, and community into our Day Centre. They’ve become part of our routine, and more importantly, part of our story.
To be recognised in this way — by the very people the partnership has been designed to uplift — is genuinely humbling. It’s a reminder that meaningful collaboration doesn’t just create opportunities, it builds confidence, connection, and pride.
This award is for every member of the Maggs team who welcomed the students, made space for them, encouraged them. It reflects the heart of what we do.” – Melissa Blewitt, Maggs Fundraising, Communications, and Relationships Manager
We would like to say a huge thank you to the SEN students at HoW College for this award – to know that this partnership has been as meaningful to you as it has been to us brings a profound sense of joy and gratitude. We hope that this wonderful working relationship continues long into the future 🌟
