As temperatures soar across Worcestershire, we want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to the incredible people who make our Hot Weather Emergency Protocol — known as Hot SWEP — possible.
From the early hours of the morning and well into the evening, our Outreach team and frontline staff have been working tirelessly to protect those sleeping rough from the dangers of extreme heat. Whether delivering water, sun cream, hats, or simply checking in with a kind word, they’ve been out there — day after day — putting care into action.
These moments of practical compassion matter. For someone facing the heat without shelter, a bottle of water or shaded advice can make all the difference. And behind every one of those small interventions is a team of staff and volunteers who care deeply and refuse to give up.
Whether you’re on the streets, in our day centres, in the kitchens, or behind the scenes making it all happen — thank you. Your commitment to Maggs and to the people we serve is nothing short of inspiring.
We’d also like to extend sincere thanks to the many partner agencies across the county who continue to collaborate with us to support those most at risk. Your coordination, referrals, and on-the-ground efforts are critical to reaching more people, more quickly.
A special thank you to CCP Charity Worcestershire for leading the coordination of this Hot SWEP response. Your leadership has helped all of us do what we do best: work together to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
To everyone involved — staff, volunteers, supporters, partners:
We see you. We thank you. You are everything.
How You Can Help During Hot SWEP
The extreme heat can be just as dangerous as the cold for people experiencing homelessness. You can help us respond:
- Donate essentials like bottled water, sun cream, caps, and lightweight clothing. Drop-offs can be made to either our Worcester Day Centre or Clothing Project.
- Make a financial donation to help us reach more people and stock up on lifesaving supplies here.
- Raise awareness by sharing our posts and checking in on vulnerable people in your area.
Every act of kindness makes a difference.
