Christmas may still feel a long way off, but here at Maggs we’re already preparing for one of the most important fundraising campaigns of the year: the Big Give Christmas Challenge!

This campaign gives us a unique opportunity to make every donation go further, helping us provide even more support to people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Worcestershire.

But before the campaign can go live, we need your help.

What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s largest match-funding campaign.

During the week-long campaign in December, every donation made through the Big Give platform is matched using funds secured in advance. This means that a donation of £10 becomes £20, £50 becomes £100, and so on.

For charities like Maggs, it’s an incredible opportunity to maximise the impact of every gift and raise vital funds during one of the busiest times of the year.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised more than £18,000 through the challenge.

This year, we’re hoping to have an even bigger impact.

Why We Need Pledges

Before the public campaign can begin, we first need to secure £6,250 in pledge funding by 28 August 2026.

Pledges form the match-funding pot that allows public donations to be doubled during the campaign.

In simple terms, pledgers make the campaign possible.

Without pledges, there is no match funding. Without match funding, public donations cannot be doubled.

What Is a Pledge?

A pledge is a promise to donate to our Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign.

One of the most common misconceptions is that making a pledge means making a payment straight away.

However…

If you choose to become a pledger:

✅ Your pledge must be registered by 28 August 2026
✅ No money is taken when you make your pledge
✅ Your donation is not collected immediately
✅ Payment is only requested after the Big Give Christmas Challenge has finished in December 2026

Think of it as reserving your Christmas donation now, so it can help unlock even more support later.

Why Your Pledge Matters

Every pledge helps us move one step closer to launching our campaign.

More importantly, every pledge helps us maximise the impact of future donations.

A pledge made today could help unlock hundreds or even thousands of pounds in additional funding once the campaign goes live.

At a time when many people are facing increasing financial pressures, this match funding can make a huge difference.

It means more food, more support, more advice and more opportunities for people to move forward with their lives.

Supporting People Across Worcestershire

Every donation raised through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will help Maggs continue supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Worcestershire.

Your support helps us provide:

  • Advice and guidance
  • Outreach services
  • Access to food and essentials
  • Clothing and practical support
  • Wellbeing activities
  • Help accessing accommodation and other services
  • A safe, welcoming place to turn when life becomes difficult

As winter approaches, these services become more important than ever.

Can You Help?

If you were already thinking about making a donation to Maggs this Christmas, we’d love you to consider making it as a Big Give pledge.

Whether you’re an individual supporter, a local business, a community group, church, school or organisation, your pledge could help us unlock vital funding and reach even more people this winter.

Together, we can ensure that nobody has to face homelessness alone.

Thank you for your continued support of Maggs and for helping us make this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge our most successful yet
