Christmas at Maggs is never just a season — it’s a story we rewrite together.

Every winter, hundreds of people across Worcester, Malvern, Redditch and Bromsgrove face freezing temperatures, long nights, and the kind of loneliness most of us can’t imagine. But every donation — whether it’s a warm pair of socks or a sleeping bag — becomes a new line in their story. A moment of dignity. A reminder that someone, somewhere, cares.
This year, as part of our Help Rewrite the Story Christmas campaign, we’re using a chapter-style approach to show the difference your support makes.
Below is our Maggs Core Christmas Donations Wish List — the same one shared across our hubs, social media, and community partners — transformed into a narrative of why each item matters.
Chapter One: A Warm Start
Men’s & Women’s Essentials
The first chapter in someone’s winter story begins with warmth.
For people who come to us cold, soaked through, or without access to laundry, fresh boxer shorts, pants, socks, and sanitary products aren’t small items—they’re dignity. They’re comfort. They’re a clean start to the day.
Hair brushes, body sprays, cosmetics and anything sparkly go even further.
They help people feel seen, human, and cared for — especially during a time of year that can make anyone feel invisible.
Chapter Two: Small Things With Big Impact
General essentials that transform a day
Sometimes the most powerful gifts fit in the palm of a hand.
Wipes. Hats. Gloves. Snoods. Hand warmers. Torches. Thermal cups. Pot noodles.
These help someone survive a freezing night, stay safe in the dark, or enjoy a hot drink when everything else around them is cold.
These are the items that fill our bags — the branded totes gifted by partners, the drawstring bags that help us reduce waste — and they get handed out by our outreach teams at dawn, at dusk, and everywhere in between.
This chapter is built on practicality. On connection.
On the quiet moments when a hot chocolate sachet or notebook means more than you could ever know.
Chapter Three: The Chapter That Saves Lives
Large items for survival in winter
For people sleeping rough, Christmas isn’t a holiday — it’s a battle.
Sleeping bags, roll mats, trackie bottoms, rucksacks, trainers (size 8+), power banks, basic mobile phones, foil blankets, pillows.
These items are urgently needed and always in critically short supply.
They’re not luxuries.
They’re lifelines.
They keep someone warm at 2am.
They help a person charge their phone to contact outreach.
They give someone the ability to move safely from place to place without losing everything they own.
This is the chapter where your donation quite literally changes someone’s chances of surviving the night.
Chapter Four: Hope in a Bag
Why we ask for drawstring bags
We love your creativity — shoeboxes, gift bags, carefully selected gifts — and every year we’re blown away by your kindness.
But this winter, we’re kindly asking supporters to place items in drawstring bags.
Why?
🎁 They’re durable
🎁 They reduce waste
🎁 They become a practical bonus gift that our service users reuse daily
Your donations don’t just arrive beautifully presented — they become an ongoing part of someone’s journey.
Chapter Five: Where Your Gifts Go
Hubs, outreach, and quiet moments of impact
Your donations are sorted at our Maggs Clothing Project and then sent across:
🟢 Worcester Day Centre
🟢 Malvern Hub
🟢 Redditch Hub
🟢 Bromsgrove outreach
🟢 Our winter evening services
The warm socks you donate might be in someone’s hands within the hour.
The sleeping bag you buy might save a life the same night.
Your help is immediate.
It’s real.
It’s now.

Just ask. We’re here.
Final Chapter: The One You Help Us Write
You don’t need to spend a lot to change a story.
You don’t need to buy everything on the list.
You don’t need to give the “perfect” Christmas gift.
You just need to care.
Because every donation helps rewrite the story for someone experiencing homelessness this winter.
Thank you for giving the Gift of Hope.
Thank you for standing with Maggs.
Thank you for helping us rewrite the story — one chapter, one act of kindness, one bag of essentials at a time.
