At Maggs, Christmas is never just a season — it’s a moment where our community comes together in the most extraordinary ways. Each year, we see kindness spark into action: warm meals promised, donations gathered, gifts prepared, and messages of hope shared with the people who walk through our doors.

And this year, as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary, that generosity has begun earlier and stronger than ever.

Over the past few weeks, schools, churches, businesses, volunteers, and community groups across Worcestershire have reached out with one simple intention:
to help rewrite the story for people experiencing homelessness this Christmas.

The First Chapters: Early Supporters Step Forward

Our inbox has been filling with photos and messages from early supporters — classrooms assembling hampers, offices collecting toiletries, church groups organising gift bags, and local businesses offering warm food and sponsorships.

Each image tells a story of its own: pupils proudly holding up donations, volunteers sorting through winter essentials, and community members rolling up their sleeves to make sure no one is forgotten this Christmas.

Their kindness is already shaping what this festive season will look like for the people we support.

Here are just a few things early supporters have told us:

“We wanted to start early this year — Maggs has inspired our whole school to think differently about giving.”
— Local school supporter

“It’s a privilege to contribute. A small act for us can mean stability and dignity for someone else.”
— Business donor

Community in Action: Every Gift, Every Gesture Matters

From churches preparing gift bags to local clubs organising food drives, the ripple effect of community action is already being felt. Volunteers have offered their time, local organisations have pledged support, and individuals have reached out asking how they can help.

These early contributions help us prepare for one of the most meaningful days of the year at Maggs — a day filled with warmth, celebration, and connection.
A day that many of our service users haven’t experienced in years, or ever.

And behind each donation is a message that carries far more weight than the item itself:

“You matter. You are not alone. You are part of this community.”

Why This Matters

For people experiencing homelessness, Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time. But when our community comes together, the story changes. A shared meal becomes a memory. A thoughtful gift becomes a turning point. A warm welcome becomes the first step toward rebuilding trust, confidence and hope.

Your generosity does more than meet immediate needs — it reminds people of their worth and humanity.

Be Part of the Story

If your school, church, workplace, club or group would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. From sponsoring meals to collecting essentials, giving gifts or volunteering your time, every act helps create a Christmas filled with dignity, warmth and belonging.

Thank you to everyone who has already stepped forward. You are the first chapters of this year’s story — and we cannot wait to see what the rest of our community writes next.

Together, we can help rewrite the story.
