THE MAGGS HARVEST APPEAL IS HERE!

As the nights get colder, life becomes even tougher for people facing homelessness. This is when demand for our services grows, and when we need your help the most.

WHAT IS HARVEST?

The Harvest Festival is a time-honoured tradition celebrated across the UK, marking the end of the farming season and giving thanks for the food grown on our land. Communities come together to express gratitude for a successful harvest, often donating food and goods to help those in need.

At its heart, Harvest is about sharing what we have (whether that’s food, time, or resources), to support others and ensure no one goes without. For charities like ours, it’s a vital time of year when people’s generosity helps us prepare for the difficult winter months ahead.

HOW DOES MAGGS COMMEMORATE HARVEST TIME?

At Maggs, Harvest is a chance to reflect on kindness, community, and compassion. Each year, we invite members of our community to make a difference and donate vital items for our service users.

These donations often include:

  • Non-perishable food to stock our kitchens and food parcels

  • Toiletries to help people experiencing homelessness maintain dignity and self-care

  • Warm clothing and blankets to prepare for the colder months ahead

The items collected go to our Clothing Project and Day Centres, where they are used to provide hot meals, essential supplies, and practical support to people facing homelessness (see our full wish list below!).

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Supporting Maggs this Harvest couldn’t be simpler. Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Organise a Harvest collection at your school, workplace, or community group

  • Donate food, toiletries, or warm clothing to our Day Centres

  • Give a financial donation so we can purchase exactly what is needed most

  • Spread the word about our work and encourage others to get involved

Whether you donate a single item or coordinate a large collection, every contribution makes a difference.

If you would like to hold a collection or fundraiser, we’d love to help! Send us an email at fundraising@maggsdaycentre.co.uk and we’ll send you everything you need to get started.
