There’s no stopping our Harm Reduction team!

We’re excited to announce that we’ve now opened our third Harm Reduction drop-in service every Monday, 12pm – 2pm in the Westlands Community Centre in Droitwich.

The Harm Reduction service offers clean works, Naloxone provision and training, BBV testing and a safe space for anyone to talk about alcohol and substance use, whether they are homeless or not.

Jenny Pengelly, one of our Harm Reduction stars, explains: “I am excited to share that, from 10th June, the team and I are now offering a weekly drop-in at the Westlands Community Centre in Droitwich. This allows us to offer service users a safe place to utilise the harm reduction services, but even if it’s just a safe place to come for a simple chat, this can make all the difference.

Throughout all of our services at Maggs, we find working with neighbouring organisations extremely beneficial, so having the team at Westfields on board with our services and continue to help those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or just need a friendly face. Together we can strengthen our support by offer a wider range of solutions to help those in need to take the next step.”

The Harm Reduction team partners with homelessness, health providers, and other relevant agencies across the county to engage people with services to address substance misuse and any health-related issue associated with substance dependency.

The team goes anywhere throughout the county to a person experiencing homelessness needing support, and works collaboratively to break down barriers to develop innovative and robust pathways to engage people and support our service users to adopt safer practices and reduce harm.
