December is always one of the busiest months at Maggs, and this past year was no exception. But thanks to the extraordinary support of our community, it was also a month filled with warmth, generosity and moments of genuine joy across our services.

From donations and fundraising to volunteers giving their time and care, everything that happened in December was made possible by people like you.

A Community That Shows Up

Throughout the month, we were overwhelmed by the kindness of local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals who stepped forward to support people experiencing homelessness across Worcestershire.

This collective generosity helped ensure our doors stayed open, our teams were supported, and our services continued without interruption during one of the toughest times of year. Whether through financial support, practical donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every contribution made a real and tangible difference.

With Special Thanks to Our Festive Sponsors

We’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the organisations who helped make some of our most meaningful festive moments possible:

  • Barbertown, for generously sponsoring Christmas Day lunch at our Worcester Day Centre, helping ensure people could share a warm, welcoming meal on Christmas Day

  • Hudson Kapel, for sponsoring Fish and Chips on New Year’s Eve, offering comfort, familiarity and a moment of celebration as the year came to a close

  • Unity Trust Bank, whose volunteer team not only funded but also prepared and served Christmas dinner at our Redditch drop-in, bringing incredible energy, care and community spirit throughout the day

Their support went far beyond funding — it created moments of dignity, togetherness and care that truly mattered.

More Than Services — Moments That Matter

December wasn’t just about meals served or items distributed (though those are vital). It was also about the small, human moments that remind us why this work matters so much.

Across our day centres, music played, laughter was shared over hot drinks, games were enjoyed around tables, and festive food brought people together. At Malvern, mince pies and hot chocolate were enjoyed alongside music and games — and one service user even took the time to teach a member of staff how to draw, a simple moment that perfectly captured the warmth of the day.

At our drop-ins, Christmas lunches brought people together in safe, welcoming spaces. Volunteers cooked, served and cleaned up with care, while gifts under the tree, kind messages from the community and familiar festive tunes helped our centres feel like places of belonging — not just support.

These special moments are just as important as the practical help we provide.

Your Support, Real Impact

Because of the support we received in December:

  • People had access to hot food, warm clothing and safe spaces

  • Our teams could continue offering outreach and harm reduction support

  • Individuals felt seen, valued and remembered at a difficult time of year

None of this happens without a community behind it.

Thank You

To everyone who donated, volunteered, fundraised, shared our posts, dropped off items, or simply thought of Maggs this December — thank you. You helped make all of this possible.

As we move into a new year, we carry this kindness with us. The challenges don’t end when Christmas does — but neither does our commitment, or the incredible support of our community.

From all of us at Maggs, thank you for being part of our December, and a part of our story.
