This week is National Trustee Week – a chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who give their time, skills and expertise to guide charities across the country.

At Maggs, our trustees play a vital role in steering our work, shaping our vision, and ensuring that everything we do keeps the needs of people experiencing homelessness at its heart.

Why Trustees Matter

Trustees are the unsung heroes of the charity world. They don’t appear on the front line or in the spotlight, but their decisions help shape the services we deliver and the support we offer. At Maggs, our trustees:

  • Oversee the governance and long-term direction of the charity.
  • Support our staff team to deliver compassionate, practical services across Worcester, Malvern and Redditch.
  • Bring expertise from a wide range of sectors – from housing and finance to health, community engagement, and business.
  • Champion our cause in the community, building relationships that help sustain our work.

40 Years of Guidance and Support

As we mark 40 years of Maggs in 2025, we’re especially grateful for the leadership of our board. Just as our services have grown – from a small day centre in Worcester to a multi-site organisation offering clothing, outreach, housing support and more – our trustees have been there every step of the way, helping us adapt and respond to the changing needs of people experiencing homelessness.

Thank You

To our trustees past and present: thank you for everything you do. Your time, your wisdom, and your commitment to Maggs make a difference every single day.

And to anyone reading this who might be curious about what it means to be a trustee – please get in touch. Being a trustee is one of the most rewarding ways you can use your skills to make a difference. Whether you’re experienced in business, finance, health, social care, or simply passionate about tackling homelessness, there’s a place for you.
