The Belmont Care Home recently approached Maggs after one of their residents, Joyce, chose to donate her unused clothes to our Clothing Project after having a clearout. We invited Joyce down to have a tour of our Clothing Project and see the impact of where her donations go and what we do at Maggs.
The team were so moved and inspired by the work we do as a charity, that they have kindly offered to become a donations drop-off point for us, as we’re unable to perform collections due to our lack of resources and the team will organise regular drop-offs for the donations that they receive.
Stephanie Howard, the Home Manager, confirms: “I am delighted that the Belmont is involved with Maggs clothing project, we are happy to be having a drop-off point for the charity and hope to get some items to help them with the work they are doing. It is positive to have built this relationship in the community and to be able to involve our residents in this too. We are looking forward to seeing how we can help going forward.”
Since opening in 2003, our Clothing Project has aided our service users at whatever part of their journey. Whether this be a first-time use for a rough sleeper looking for bedding and clothing to survive the night or someone who has gained housing, we support our service users through every segment of their re-entry to society.
Our Clothing Project welcomed 1477 people alone in 2023 and offers anything from sleeping bags, roll mats and pillows to kitchen appliances, toiletries and food to those who have either been accessing our services or referred to us via local partnering agencies.
Melissa, our Marketing and Relations Manager explains: “It was wonderful to have Joyce and the team come along to visit us and see for themselves where and who the donations go to and hear more about the work Maggs does across the county. Notably the wonderful Carla, the Customer Relations Manager, was so inspired that we were invited to the home to talk more about how we can work together moving forward and kindly offered to become a local drop-off point which will be fantastic for us to gain access to even more vital items from kind supporters.”
“The team have been so lovely and proactive in their help and we’re looking forward to working together for the foreseeable future. Of course, I also can’t forget to thank the lovely Joyce who kickstarted this partnership!”
