On Saturday 29th June, the community-run family festival Band Together finally came to fruition and successfully raised £5,000 to be split between Maggs and Worcester Street Cafe.

The festival has been the brainchild of our very own General Support Worker, Chewie, his wife Ruth & close friend Laura. It took 18 months of planning and fundraising to put the wheels in motion and raise the much-needed funds to put the event on.

Chewie explains: “We’re so happy that the event went off without a hitch. It’s been a long hard road to get here, but we’ve had some fantastic support from so many people, including our friends at Woo Fest, and we’ve had nothing but fantastic feedback from the event, which makes it all worth it.”

“It was so great to see so many people having fun on the day and I want to say a huge thank you to all of the bands, volunteers, stage crew, security, vendors, sponsors and raffle prize donors, not to mention the fundraiser venues and, most importantly, all those who attended and gave so generously to make Band Together the incredible success that it is!”

Performers at the festival included The Secret Cabaret, The Hill’s Angels, Jiksaw, Ruben Seabright, Capas and The Mess They Left Behind and many more, and the lineup was kicked off by Chewie himself!

There was also plenty of food on offer, including Fabioni’s Pizza and Hillbilly’s Street Kitchen, with coffee and drinks served at LilyBeans Coffee, Pig on the Hill bar, The Thirsty Shepherdess or Penny’s Vintage Bar.

Andy Price, our Chief Executive, confirms: “On behalf of everyone at Maggs, I would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to the Band Together team for not only pulling off a successful event but raising such a fantastic amount of money for charity.”

“Chewie, Ruth and Laura have worked exceptionally hard for the last 18 months and I hope now they can sit back, relax and reflect on what amazing work they’ve done for both charities.”
