This weekend, we hosted our latest Maggs Netball Tournament, bringing together teams from across the Midlands for a day of sport, fundraising, and plenty of wind! 🌬️
The event formed part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, and we’re so proud to share that we raised over £1000 to support people experiencing homelessness in Worcestershire.
Melissa Blewitt, our Fundraising & Communications Manager, shared:
“As we celebrate 40 years of Maggs, events like this feel especially meaningful. Behind every netball match and every cake sale is a deep sense of purpose — to raise vital funds and awareness for people in our community who are often overlooked.
Yes, the planning is intense, and the wind certainly kept us on our toes this time — but hearing how much people enjoyed themselves, seeing teams return again and again, and watching volunteers go above and beyond makes every bit of the hard work worth it.
This tournament wasn’t just a fundraiser — it was a reminder of the power of community and the spirit of solidarity that has kept Maggs going since 1985. We’re so proud to be celebrating this milestone year, and even more determined to make the next 40 years count.”
🏆 Spring Fling reclaimed their champion title after previous wins in our October tournament and 2024 mixed league, while Good Vibes — who travelled from Wolverhampton — brought incredible energy and secured a well-earned second place.
The funds raised will go directly toward our core services: day centres, outreach support, and clothing provision — all continuing the legacy started by All Saints Church in 1985.
We’d also like to extend a special shout-out to the wonderful stallholders who joined us on the day, despite the blustery weather! Your presence helped bring extra warmth, creativity, and community spirit to the event. Even those who had to pack up early showed true dedication — thank you for being part of it.
Please join us in supporting these fantastic local businesses: Dirty Slice Pizza Co, Thoughtful Touches, Ultraviolet Treats, Foxall Creations and Lisa Kleinsmiede Davis.
We truly appreciate your effort and hope to welcome you back to future events—hopefully with calmer skies!
This tournament is just one part of our ÂŁ40,000 for 40 years campaign, and every penny raised helps us continue walking alongside those who need it most.
