A tree is a want, a bed is a need. Our Christmas video is here!
The aim is to highlight the sad conditions that many face at this time of year, whether this be because of factors such as poor mental health, addiction, cost of living, family breakdowns etc, and that our support is a lifeline to many.
Melissa, our fundraising, communications and relationships manager, explains: “Christmas is typically a time of family, celebration, love, warmth and companionship. However, for some, it can be an incredibly hard, depressing and lonely time. That’s why our campaign this year is aimed to bring cheer to the homeless and we ask you to support our cause.
The video, produced by Conteur pro bono, stars one our service users, Jen, who influenced the storytelling with her experience, and wanted to highlight the conditions and loneliness that are felt by those who are sleeping rough.
The theme is set around our cardboard tree in the cathedral this year, which has been constructed and designed by our service users during the art sessions in our Worcester Day Centre as part of our health hub drop-in service.
“There are currently over 37 people rough sleeping throughout the county, 22 of which we’re currently serving breakfasts to in our day centre, so the demand for our services is constantly growing at alarming rates, so people’s support is more than imperative than ever”, continues Melissa. “To support, you can donate through our Justgiving page on our website, organise fundraising events, or have a sort out at home of items you don’t need any more to be brought to our Clothing Project. Get in touch with us and we can send you the details, thank you!”
A special thank you to the fantastic team at Conteur for filming and editing the video. Alongside Jen, our Maggs’ workers Terri and Margarita and Henry for starring in the video and Capriccio for donating their stunning background music.
