There was a real sense of community at our Redditch drop-in this week as service users, staff, volunteers and supporters came together for a special summer barbecue, kindly sponsored by the team at Unity Trust Bank.
With temperatures soaring, the event provided a welcome opportunity to enjoy good food, great company and a chance to relax in a friendly and supportive environment.
Going Above and Beyond
The Unity Bank team didn’t just sponsor the event; they got fully involved on the day, helping with everything from setting up and preparing food to serving guests and clearing away afterwards. Their enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere from start to finish.
Guests enjoyed a fantastic spread of freshly cooked burgers and hot dogs with all the extras, alongside crisps, sweet treats and plenty of cold drinks to keep everyone refreshed in the heat. With music playing, games taking place and plenty of conversation and laughter, it was an afternoon enjoyed by all.
While events like these are always great fun, they are about much more than food and entertainment. For many of the people who use our services, opportunities to come together, build relationships and feel part of a community can be just as important as the practical support we provide. Shared experiences help reduce isolation, strengthen connections and create positive memories.
A Special Tribute
The barbecue was also held in memory of Rasti, a much-loved member of our Redditch community who sadly passed away recently.
Throughout the afternoon, people were invited to visit a memorial table where they could leave messages, memories and reflections. Later in the day, attendees gathered to release balloons in Rasti’s memory, creating a touching moment of remembrance and celebration of a life that touched many within our community.
The event was a reminder of the strong bonds that exist within our Redditch drop-in, bringing people together not only to enjoy the afternoon but also to remember and honour someone who meant a great deal to many.
Thank You
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone from Unity Bank who helped make the day possible. Their generosity, time and commitment were greatly appreciated by both our team and the people we support.
We are also grateful to the many individuals, organisations and businesses who continue to stand alongside Maggs. With your support, we can continue creating spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, connected and supported.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special and memorable afternoon.
