On Saturday 18th May, we hosted our first open in several years and we’re pleased to say it was a great success.

We welcomed attendees such as the High Sheriff of Worcestershire, the new Worcester Mayor, Councilors from all parties, new and long-standing supporters and members from partnering agencies and even one of the original Maggs founders, David Hallmark.

So many explained that even though we work closely with them, they haven’t yet been able to see the day centre whilst open, so it was great to be able for those to view our facilities and hear more about our wide variety of services.

Charles Moyle, the High Sheriff of Worcester confirms: “My wife and I had a wonderful morning at your Open Day. You all do an amazing job, often with huge challenges, in helping the most vulnerable in our society.

Maggs is such a well-run, super-organised group of extremely hard-working men and women, who work tirelessly together to make a strong collaborative team that ensures the success of this Day Center to continue to offer fundamental support in so many areas of need, providing meals, clothing, laundry and shower facilities and offering an outreach service and also owning a couple of houses in Worcester to help people to get back on their feet, quite literally one step at a time. Well done for all that you do.”

Worcester Mayor, Cllr Mel Alcott explains: “Spending time with the trustees, volunteers and staff, gave a real insight, into the wide-ranging issues, affecting homeless people today.  I look forward to a further visit and supporting this vital charity where I can.”

We were also lucky to have been kindly donated food from the team at Brookes Catering, who provided us with delicious canapes and sweet treats. The team has been very supportive in the last year of our day centre and helped us provide a special bank holiday lunch for our service users. Thank you, team!

Another special thank you goes to the team at Conteur who came along and took pictures of the day, and for their continued support.

We thank all of those who came to visit us on the day. Your support means so much to the team, we are very much looking forward to the future and continuing our mission of helping the homeless and vulnerable throughout the county.
