A simple idea with a big impact

At Maggs Day Centre, we’re continually reminded that kindness shows up in many forms — and often in the most creative and thoughtful ways. One recent example comes from local café, The Lemon Tart, who have found a simple but powerful way to support our work.

The Lemon Tart has introduced a “free or donate” bookstall in their café, inviting customers to take a book home at no cost, or to donate whatever they feel able. Every donation raised through the bookstall goes directly towards supporting Maggs and the people who use our services.

Dignity, choice and community

It’s a welcoming and inclusive idea — removing barriers while still giving people the opportunity to give back. Whether someone is picking up a book for free or choosing to donate, the stall reflects the same values that underpin our work at Maggs: dignity, choice and compassion.

Small initiatives like this can have a meaningful impact. Funds raised through the bookstall help us continue providing vital services for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity across Worcester, while also strengthening the sense of community that makes local support so powerful.

Thank you to The Lemon Tart

We’re incredibly grateful to The Lemon Tart for choosing to support Maggs in such a thoughtful and community-minded way. Their generosity shows how local businesses can make a real difference, simply by creating space for kindness.

If you’re visiting The Lemon Tart, take a moment to browse the bookstall, enjoy a drink, and support a local café that’s helping to support local people.
