A Strong Start for Women’s Support in Kidderminster
Last week marked the first session of The Connection Project — a new women’s group in Kidderminster designed to create a safe, welcoming space for women to feel supported, heard and connected.
And what a start it was.
Five women joined us for a relaxed afternoon in the sunshine, sharing coffee, conversation, and creative activities including arts, crafts and nail painting. With pizza kindly donated and a calm, informal atmosphere, the session created exactly the kind of environment we had hoped for — one where women could feel comfortable walking through the door and simply being themselves.
But beyond the activities, something more important happened.
One woman engaged with our Harm Reduction team for the first time, accessing advice, support and being signposted for further help, including housing support. Moments like this are exactly why spaces like The Connection Project matter — creating opportunities for early support, in a way that feels accessible and non-judgemental.
Every woman who attended said they plan to return next week.
That in itself speaks volumes.
The Connection Project is delivered in partnership with HELP, responding to a clear gap in provision for women who often face additional barriers when accessing support. By providing a dedicated space, we are able to create a more tailored, supportive environment — one that recognises the complexity of women’s experiences and meets them where they are.
This is just the beginning.
As the group continues, we hope to build on this early success — strengthening relationships, increasing engagement with support services, and creating a consistent, trusted space for women across Kidderminster.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in making this happen, and to those who continue to support Maggs in creating spaces where people feel safe, welcomed and able to take that first step.
How You Can Support
We’re always looking for ways to support The Connection Project and keep sessions running in a warm and welcoming way.
If you’re a local individual or business and would like to help, we’d love to hear from you. Whether that’s:
- donating items such as craft materials, nail supplies or refreshments
- supporting with food or activities
- or making a financial contribution
Every bit of support helps us continue this work and reach more women who need it.
