Maggs is marking an important transition within our Board of Trustees as we say thank you to two long-standing members of our leadership team and welcome new appointments to key governance roles.

Following her resignation as Chair of Trustees, we would like to thank Jane Kemp for the significant contribution she has made to Maggs since joining the Board in 2021, and particularly since becoming Chair on 31 August 2024.

Jane brought more than 20 years’ experience as a solicitor, alongside a wealth of professional knowledge, strong local connections and a deep commitment to Maggs’ work. During a period of considerable change for the charity, she has played an important role in providing leadership, challenge and support, helping Maggs strengthen its governance, develop its strategic direction and continue evolving its services for people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Worcestershire.

Her time as Chair has encompassed an important period in Maggs’ development, including the launch of our 2025–28 Strategic Plan and a renewed focus on strengthening the organisation’s foundations, partnerships and long-term sustainability.

We would also like to thank Nicola Malyon, who has stepped down as Treasurer, for the commitment, expertise and careful financial oversight she has brought to Maggs.

Nicola has made an important contribution to the Board’s stewardship of the charity through a period of financial challenge and organisational change, bringing her knowledge and scrutiny to financial planning, risk and sustainability. Her support has helped ensure the Board has remained focused on both Maggs’ immediate financial responsibilities and its longer-term resilience. The Board recently entrusted Jane and Nicola with delegated authority to finalise and sign off the charity’s Annual Report and accounts, reflecting the important responsibilities they have held within Maggs’ governance.

As we look ahead, we are pleased to announce that Stephen Collman will become our new Chair of Trustees.

Stephen is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with extensive leadership experience across mental health, community and acute hospital services. His career has included senior roles as Chief Operating Officer for Mental Health, Community and Acute Hospitals, Chief Executive Officer at Norfolk Community Health Trust, and currently Managing Director of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals.

Stephen brings a strong understanding of health, leadership and the challenges faced by vulnerable members of our communities, alongside a particular passion for addressing homelessness and the health and social inequalities that often sit alongside it.

We are also delighted that Ian Smith will take on the role of Treasurer.

Ian is a retired ACA-qualified finance professional with more than 40 years’ experience across finance, audit, governance and strategic leadership within the insurance and financial services sectors. His career has included senior leadership roles specialising in financial management, risk, internal audit, corporate governance and organisational transformation.

His expertise in financial oversight, strategic planning and risk management will provide valuable support to the Board as Maggs continues to grow and develop.

Our trustees play a vital role in providing governance, oversight and strategic direction to Maggs, helping ensure that we remain sustainable, accountable and focused on delivering the greatest possible impact for the people we support.

We are incredibly grateful to Jane and Nicola for everything they have contributed to Maggs, and we look forward to working with Stephen and Ian in their new roles as we continue building on 40 years of hope, support and opportunity across Worcestershire.
